{print} DJ Atropine: Electro, Hip-Hop & Techno
Ivan Molina is the mastermind behind the name DJ Atropine. He wanted to create a new business card to advertise his music mixing services. Ivan loves to mix electro, hip-hop and techno but is available for all event requests. He wanted his cards to connect to the music he loves to mix.
The heart also helped capture Ivan’s personality perfectly. The colors were all bold and neon and we chose a glossy stock to really capture the colors. I gave Ivan 3 options and since he couldn’t decide between these 2–we just printed both.
So tell me what you think! Then, do you need some personal calling cards or business cards?
{music monday} White Stripes Spin-off : The Dead Weather
Steeped in goth-blues and heavy rock with electric R&B thrown in; it is definitely in it’s own category. Jack White’s newest foursome includes the Kills Alison Mosshart (love her!), Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita. Hang You from the Heavens is awesome. Her voice is such a nice addition! The mix on I Cut Like a Buffalo is a little too off the chart for my liking, but everything is so different, so musically experimental while still rocking. Total success on this album that was recorded in the blink of an eye. White is on drums and mixes vocals with Mosshart, you won’t be able to tell them apart. You will also hear keyboard-bass and an organ throughout.
All in all, I totally recommend checking out this album. It is new, fresh and worth the time. Ultimately, this is just a side project, so don’t expect much more. I hope to check them out at the Wiltern on 8.25.09–see you there and say hey!
Different Strokes for Different Folks

Oh yeah! I thought the New York garage band the Strokes made such an important impact on music when their first record released that they left their mark as rock heroes. After that, I kept wanting more. I am not too into Albert Hammond, Jr.’s records really. But, I look forward to Julian Casablanca’s record titled Phrazes, while it is also reported they are working on the fourth Strokes album. We will see! Apparently this album has electronic drums and synthy beats which will be more experimental than the lo-fi sounds of the Is This It sounds.
Casablancas is planning a small tour in the US to promote Phrazes, regardless if it is this or the full tour, I hope he comes near LA. -xx
