{fashion stakeout} Ornate Accessories & Details

leave a comment »

Yesterday, I paid a long overdue visit to my sweet cousin and Aunt. It is always such a pleasure because it reminds me of my roots and my mother’s family, which is always grounding. My Aunt Aurora gave me a sweet little gift. Take a look.

Ornate Vintage Turtle Compact

It is a turtle with jewel accents and is some heavy material, maybe pewter? Then it opens to this!

Vintage Antique Turtle Compact=

It is a fabulous vintage antique looking compact mirror. I know it is new, but I love the look of it. It is really small too, fits in the palm of my hand. I love it!

This reminded me my love of accessories. Sometimes accessories should be about details just to make them work. Don’t settle for some boring bangle or ring, jazz it up! Here are some vintage dressy jewelry I love. Pair them with some edgier pieces and they won’t feel so classy and not wearable for everyday use.

House of Harlow - Women's Cabochon Bangle

House of Harlow – Bangle

This bangle is 14KT gold-plated palladium and has some awesome patterned black stones and crystals all around. Even the side has a line pattern to add some contrast.

House of Harlow - Women's Large Key Cocktail RingHouse of Harlow – Woman’s Large Key Cocktail Ring

This key really stands out all on its own.  Wearing a vintage key design on a ring is so unexpected, it totally rocks.

House of Harlow 1960 Gold Peacock Feather - Enameled Locket Pendant

House of Harlow 1960 Gold Peacock Feather-Enameled Locket Pendant

This locket uses enamel and diamond-shaped cutouts to really create an homage to the peacock feather without being so in your face peacock, which has been so wrongly done by so many designers. This is subtle and just enough.

Dress it up! What are some of your favorite accessories? -xx
